Alfira Ahmatjan — known as Jazzfira — is a New York City–based Uyghur jazz vocalist, composer, and pianist, and the first Uyghur jazz singer. Rooted in improvisation and shaped by Uyghur musical tradition, her performances open a deeply personal, cross-cultural space where voice, memory, and spontaneity meet. Warm, intimate, emotionally nuanced — her work has been presented at international festivals and across New York City.
Alfira performed with us at Night at the Triad 2, and Wednesday she's joined by guitarist Yoav Eshed — a five-album composer and Montreux and Lee Ritenour competition winner who has also performed on the Four Hands Collective stage. That's why this show sits close to our heart: two of our own artists, in an intimate room built for exactly this kind of listening.
