Matt Baker — A Summer's Night at Birdland

  • Birdland Jazz Club 315 West 44th Street New York, New York, 10036 United States (map)

Matt Baker presents A Summer's Night — The Sounds of New York City, a one-night-only celebration of the music that made this city what it is. Jazz standards, Broadway melodies, and the timeless songs of the golden age of American music, performed at Birdland with June Cavlan on voice, Kris Monson on bass, and Aaron Seeber on drums.

Matt Baker is the co-music director and co-founder of the Four Hands Collective, an Australian-born jazz pianist who has made New York City his home and his muse since 2010. Six albums. Regular residencies at Birdland, the Blue Note, and Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle. Collaborators including Patti LaBelle, Vanessa Williams, Veronica Swift, and Judy Collins. A three-time semi-finalist at the Montreux International Solo Jazz Piano Competition, and a student of some of the great pianists of our time.

June Cavlan — who stopped the room at the 8th Night at the Triad with an ovation that came from somewhere none of us expected — is on voice.
