Two of the Four Hands Collective's most essential community members. One neighborhood room.
Matt Baker is the Australian-born jazz pianist who has called New York home since 2010 — co-music director of A Night at the Triad, Birdland and Blue Note performer, sideman to Patti LaBelle, Vanessa Williams, Judy Collins, and Veronica Swift, and the musician whose spontaneous four-hands piano improvisation at our very first show gave the Four Hands Collective its name and its soul. His six albums, including Live at Birdland, capture a musician of extraordinary warmth, range, and technical mastery.
Daniel Glass is an award-winning drummer, author, music historian, and educator who has been the Monday night house drummer at Birdland since 2010 and has performed more than 200 concerts annually for decades. Voted one of the top five drummers in the world by readers of Modern Drummer and DRUM magazine — twice — Daniel has toured and recorded with Brian Setzer, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli, Gene Simmons, Brian Setzer Orchestra, the Hot Sardines, and scores of others. His five books and extensive curriculum on American popular music are used at over 1,000 schools across the US and Canada.
Together at the Wallace Lounge — the heart of the Upper West Side — for an intimate residency that brings world-class jazz home.
