WHCO MainStage Concert: Breaking Barriers
Saturday, September 19 · 7:30–9:00 PM · Reception with the musicians to follow
WHCO opens its 2026–27 season — a year exploring Resilience — with a program celebrating bold artistic voices who challenged the expectations of their time: Igor Stravinsky's witty Dumbarton Oaks, Andrea Casarrubios's deeply personal Herencia, and Louise Farrenc's Symphony No. 3. Approximately one hour, no intermission.
The concert features cellist Valeriya Sholokhova — a Ukrainian-American artist who has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, and the Kennedy Center, and who performs often with the Four Hands Collective. Her solo cello, full of power and vulnerability, stilled the room at our 6th Night at the Triad. The Four Hands Collective is a nonprofit supporting artists — the most direct way to support one is to show up, listen deeply, and bring a friend.
