In 1925, Red Nichols and Cliff Edwards — two of the most singular and undersung voices in early jazz — recorded some of the most infectiously inventive sides of the decade. One hundred years later, Bryce Edwards and Mike Davis are bringing them back.
Bryce Edwards, vaudevillian troubadour and star of Birdland's critically acclaimed Frivolity Hour, joins Mike Davis — "eloquent trumpet prodigy" (Wall Street Journal) and New York's preeminent antimodernist cornetist — for a centennial tribute to this beloved and overlooked duo. Joined by an all-star band of traditional jazz specialists: Ricky Alexander on reeds, Josh Holcomb on trombone, Felix Lemerle on guitar, Dalton Ridenhour on piano, Jay Rattman on bass saxophone, and Colin Hancock on drums.
Bryce Edwards has been part of the Four Hands Collective community since Night 7. This is what he does when he takes the music he loves to the best room in New York.
