Yoav Eshed began with piano recitals at five. At thirteen he picked up the guitar — and brought a pianist's touch, a pianist's harmonic intelligence, and a pianist's inner life to an instrument that rarely gets played that way.
This Sunday he brings his quartet to Close Up Jazz for two intimate sets: Gadi Lehavi on piano, Ben Tiberio on bass, and Ofri Nehemya on drums. Yoav has recorded five albums as a bandleader and collaborated with Shai Maestro, Ari Hoenig, Omer Avital, Dayna Stephens, and Erik Truffaz. He has performed at the Blue Note, Birdland, Smalls, and festivals worldwide.
At the 8th Night at the Triad, his original composition Remember That Space? — performed with Marissa Licata on violin and Pi-Wei Lin on cello — was one of the most tender moments of the evening. Come hear what he does when the room is this close.
