Meital Waldmann: Kisufim EP Release Concert
Kisufim — Hebrew for longing — is the name and the soul of Meital Waldmann's new EP, and the release concert on March 12th at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is the fullest expression of everything this project means.
Drawing from the beloved classics of Israel's musical heritage, Kisufim brings familiar melodies into a contemporary jazz setting — Waldmann's longing for an Israel both known and imagined, carried through heritage stories and shaped by a life lived between worlds. Raised in Israel within a half-Brazilian family, and now rooted in New York's jazz scene, Meital brings a depth of cultural memory to this music that is entirely her own.
One of the earliest members of the Four Hands Collective community, Meital's elegance, grace, and extraordinary vocal power have been part of the heart of A Night at the Triad from nearly the very beginning. She has performed at Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Ornithology, the Triad Theater, Shablul Jazz Club in Tel Aviv, and stages across the United States and Israel. Her sold-out debut NYC concert at Chelsea Table & Stage established her immediately as a major presence in this city's jazz world.
The Kisufim release concert features Tom Oren, Tamir Shmerling, and Eviatar Slivnik.
A Four Hands Collective community artist. A homecoming in sound.
